Why can’t the aluminum socket head cap screws be used?
Aluminum screws are not used as much as stainless steel and carbon steel. Many people prefer to use 7075 aluminum when ordering aluminum materials, because the aluminum of this grade is not so soft, but some customers don’t know what grade of aluminum they use, they think it is aluminum, so that’s it. Sometimes it will appear, and the aluminum socket head cap screws that you bought back can’t be used. Why is this?
Because when the customer does not specify a specific aluminum screw grade when the screw manufacturer is in production, they usually use their commonly used aluminum materials, such as 1100, 6061 and other aluminum to produce aluminum socket head cap screws. The aluminum produced will be less hard and softer, and the customer’s equipment actually requires the hardness of the aluminum alloy, such as the 7075 aluminum screw. This kind of pure aluminum is not so hard relative to the aluminum alloy, and it is generally broken when it is used, so it cannot be used.
Therefore, when purchasing an aluminum socket head cap screws, be sure to confirm which grade of aluminum screw you are using, otherwise, you may not be able to use it.
