Last week, a customer sent us his drawings via email. The product was a binding machine screw, which was made of 420J2 material. He asked us if we could make his product.

If these binding machine screw are produced according to the customer’s drawings, the cost of the product will be relatively high. According to the customer’s drawings, the outer circle of the screw head must either be set into pieces for production, or the outer circle must be machined. This will depend on the customer’s quantity and appearance requirements. After all, the appearance of cold heading and turning is somewhat different. In addition to the appearance, the thickness of the customer’s head is also not standard, about 1mm thicker than the conventional one.

Therefore, Ms. Song communicated with the customer about the appearance of the binding machine screw head and whether the screw head thickness could be changed to a standard thickness. Non-standard thickness cannot be made according to the existing molds and must be customized.

After communicating with the customer, I found that the customer did not have high requirements for appearance. His main requirement was that the head size of the binding machine screw met his requirements. If we directly quote the customer after receiving their drawings, then the price provided to the customer will definitely be on the high side. Only after communicating with the customer about the actual needs, the price provided to the customer will not make the customer feel uncomfortable high.
