What is the difference between screw and bolt?
The difference between screw and bolt.
First, the definition of use is different.
(1) bolts:
A type of fastener consisting of a head and a screw (cylindrical body with external threads) fitted with a nut for fastening and connecting two parts with through holes. This connection is called a bolted connection, in which the nut is screwed down from the bolt and the two parts can be separated, so the bolted connection belongs to a removable connection.
(2) screw:
A class of fasteners consisting of two parts, the head and the screw, can be divided into three categories according to their use – machine screws, fastening screws and special purpose screws.Machine screws are mainly used for a part with an internal thread hole, and fastening connections between a part with a through hole, without the need for a nut fit (this form of connection is called screw connection). The fastening screw is mainly used to fix the relative position between the two parts. The special purpose screw has a ring screw for hoisting parts.
Two, different applications
(1) Bolts are usually used in pairs with nuts for through holes, which can be easily replaced after damage; studs are also commonly used with nuts for blind holes, and the connectors need to be removed frequently; screws are also used for blind holes.
(2) Bolts and screws are used in different places. The accuracy of the bolts is not high. Unless there is a matching requirement, the bolts are easy to disassemble and have low machining accuracy. They are not limited by the connecting materials. They are widely used. The bolts that require matching can bear transverse loads. The bolts are compact in structure, but can not be disassembled frequently and can not bear large forces.
